What is Rime?

Rime develops text-to-speech models for enterprise conversations where voice accuracy and naturalness are critical. The company was founded in 2022 in San Francisco by linguists and engineers with experience in projects such as Amazon Alexa, and builds its systems from a proprietary dataset of full-duplex spontaneous speech including interruptions, breathing and vocal disfluencies, captured both in-studio and across diverse locations in the United States.

Rime's approach is built around three core areas. The first is voice naturalness: its models reproduce the tone, rhythm and subtle imperfections of real speech — breathing, pauses and emphasis — so that conversations do not feel automated. The second is pronunciation control: the platform includes SpeechQA, a tool that flags low-confidence words before they are published and allows corrections to be made in minutes, without the need to retrain the model. The third is multilingual support, with models that maintain speech naturalness across multiple languages.

Rime offers three main models. Coda is the general-purpose model, designed for enterprise production environments with a balance between speed and naturalness. Arcana is built for applications requiring high expressiveness, with over 300 voices and bilingual and multilingual options. Mist is a high-speed model with latency below 200 ms in the cloud and below 100 ms on-premises, designed for high-volume applications.

The models can be deployed in the cloud, in a private VPC or entirely on the client's own infrastructure. The platform holds HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II certifications and operates across sectors including healthcare, food service, finance and telecommunications.
