OpenAI launches AgentKit to simplify AI agent development

OpenAI has announced the launch of AgentKit, a suite of tools aimed at developers and enterprises working with artificial intelligence agents. The platform addresses current industry challenges, where building agents requires managing multiple disconnected tools.

AgentKit includes three main components. Agent Builder offers a visual environment where developers can design workflows through drag-and-connect nodes, incorporating preview functions, inline evaluation, and version control. The Connector Registry centralizes the administration of data sources and tools, allowing administrators to manage connections with services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Sharepoint, and Microsoft Teams from a single panel. ChatKit facilitates the integration of conversational interfaces into applications and websites, handling real-time responses and visual customization.

The platform incorporates Guardrails, an open-source security layer that detects system manipulation attempts and masks personal information. This functionality can be implemented independently or through specific libraries for Python and JavaScript.

For agent performance evaluation, AgentKit expands the Evals platform capabilities with functions oriented toward agentic workflows: creating datasets from scratch, trace grading to analyze complete processes, automated prompt optimization through annotations, and support for evaluating models from other providers.

The platform also integrates reinforcement fine-tuning, currently available for o4-mini and in private beta for GPT-5, which allows customizing reasoning models with specific training for tool calls and evaluation criteria adapted to each case.
