OpenAI has introduced Frontier, a platform designed to enable businesses to build, deploy, and manage artificial intelligence agents that integrate with their current systems.
OpenAI announced the launch of Frontier, an enterprise platform that enables the integration of artificial intelligence agents into corporate workflows. The company notes that over one million businesses already use its technologies, and that 75% of enterprise workers say AI has enabled them to perform tasks they couldn't execute before.
The platform functions as an intelligence layer that connects existing systems within an organization. Frontier is structured in three levels: a business context foundation that gathers information from data warehouses, CRM systems, and internal applications; an execution layer where agents reason over data, work with files, execute code, and use tools; and an evaluation system that improves performance through feedback.
Agents can be developed internally, provided by OpenAI, or integrated from other vendors using open standards. Each agent receives its own identity with specific permissions and defined operational boundaries. The platform operates through different interfaces, including ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Atlas, or the applications organizations already use.
OpenAI has shared use cases where a manufacturer reduced production optimization work from six weeks to one day, an investment company freed over 90% of its salespeople's time, and an energy producer increased production by 5%, representing over one billion dollars in additional revenue. HP, Intuit, and Uber are among the companies adopting Frontier, while BBVA and Cisco have participated in pilot programs.
The platform includes a program of specialized Forward Deployed Engineers who work alongside companies' internal teams in deploying agents into production. OpenAI has also announced partnerships with developers such as Abridge, Clay, Ambience, Decagon, Harvey, and Sierra to design enterprise solutions.
The platform incorporates built-in enterprise security and governance and is currently available to a limited group of customers, with plans to expand access in the coming months.
