"OpenAI's Economic Blueprint" explains how the US can use artificial intelligence (AI) to grow and lead globally. AI already helps with practical issues: accelerating medical cures, improving classes, or protecting soldiers with drone defenses. OpenAI says it can create jobs and benefit everyone, as happened with cars a century ago. The UK slowed them down with absurd rules, but the US built highways and factories, and dominated. Now, AI is the new great opportunity.
OpenAI warns that if the US doesn't act, China could capture $175 billion in investments and control this technology. They suggest investing in energy (like solar or nuclear), chips, and data to make AI affordable and accessible to everyone. They ask for clear national rules, not state by state, to keep it safe: preventing harm to children, creating fake videos, or being used by governments to spy or control. They want a "democratic AI," free but responsible, that doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
They propose special zones to quickly build power plants or data centers, digitize public files so AI can learn more, and teach AI in schools and trades, preparing everyone from electricians to scientists. This will generate jobs, modernize the country, and ensure that AI is useful and safe for all.
