Instinct is an artificial intelligence personal assistant developed by Spear Street Technology, Inc., a company based in San Francisco and founded by Noah Shinn. It works as an autonomous agent: instead of limiting itself to answering questions, it carries out tasks on behalf of the user using its own phone and computer, in the same way a person would.
Interaction takes place through text messages (WhatsApp, iMessage and SMS) or phone calls, with no new interface. The assistant connects to applications and devices such as email, messaging, screen, audio and location, and uses that context to resume pending conversations, call or write proactively, arrange transport to the airport, hire home repairs, plan trips, do the grocery shopping, buy tickets or cancel subscriptions.
It also coordinates tasks involving other people: it can communicate with the assistants of trusted contacts to find shared availability or organize trips and events, and exchange files with them. It also generates interactive pages, private or shareable by link, to compare housing options, organize routes or split expenses.
For shopping, it integrates with stores and payment platforms, such as Shopify and Shop Pay, to search for products, check prices and availability and prepare orders. It also offers recommendations developed with local chefs, designers, architects and travel guides.
It can access sensitive data, such as messages or payment information, with the user's authorization. Content stored in the Vault feature and Google Workspace data are not used to train models. Other data may be used for that purpose unless the user disables it in the settings, except for content flagged during safety reviews. Users must be 18 or older, and they are responsible for the actions carried out on their behalf.
