Grok-2 is now free on X with enhanced features and key improvements

Grok-2, developed by xAI, introduces its latest version with significant enhancements and a major update: it’s now free for all users on X. Since its release in August, the model has been upgraded to be three times faster, with better accuracy, improved instruction-following, and enhanced multilingual support.

One of its standout features is the integration of web search and citations, allowing users to obtain more precise and verifiable answers by combining X posts with external sources. This enhances Grok's ability to deliver real-time context and verify information via direct links to original sources.

Aurora, the new image-generation model, has also been integrated into Grok-2, offering advanced photorealism. Users can leverage the "draw me" feature to create personalized versions of themselves based on their X profile. Additionally, the new “Grok” button enables detailed analysis of timeline posts, offering deeper insights into current events and trends.

For developers, xAI has introduced two new models through its public API: grok-2-1212 and grok-2-vision-1212. These models balance precision, customizability, and multilingual support, with reduced pricing thanks to efficiency optimizations. This underscores xAI’s commitment to making advanced AI accessible to both users and developers.
