Google Workspace Studio enables task automation with AI agents without coding

Google has announced the general availability of Workspace Studio, a platform integrated into its workspace environment that allows users to create AI agents through natural language instructions. Users can describe what they want to automate, such as "every Friday, remind me to update my tracker" or "if an email contains a question, label it and notify me in Chat", and Gemini 3 generates the agent automatically.

Agents created in Workspace Studio differ from traditional automation tools in their ability to reason through problems and adapt to new information. They can perform tasks such as sentiment analysis, content generation, intelligent prioritization, or support ticket classification. Integration with applications like Gmail, Drive, Sheets, and Chat allows agents to extract context from documents, emails, and the web to provide personalized responses.

According to Google, customers in the Gemini Alpha program have used these agents for over 20 million tasks in the last 30 days, including report automation, reminder management, and legal notice classification. Kärcher, a global cleaning solutions company, implemented a virtual agent system that reduced its proposal drafting time by 90 percent, going from several hours of manual work to obtaining a reviewable plan in two minutes.

The platform includes integration with third-party business applications such as Asana, Jira, Mailchimp, and Salesforce through preconfigured steps. For users with advanced technical knowledge, Workspace Studio allows creating custom steps in Apps Script, using webhooks to connect with external services, or integrating internal tools and models via Vertex AI.

Agents can be shared among teams similarly to Google Drive files, and the platform offers predefined templates for common use cases such as daily summaries of unread emails or pre-meeting reminders. Google is rolling out Workspace Studio to business customers over the coming weeks, with promotional access to higher usage limits. Users under 18 will not be able to create agents with AI functionalities.
