ByteDance presents Seedream 4.0, an artificial intelligence model that combines image generation and editing in a single system, with improved speed and support for various styles, available on the company's apps and other platforms, and directly competing with Google's “Nano Banana.”
ByteDance has officially launched Seedream 4.0, its next-generation artificial intelligence model for image creation that integrates generation and editing capabilities in a single architecture. According to the company, Seedream 4.0 competes with models like Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, standing out for its greater accuracy in following instructions and speed in image generation.
The model significantly surpasses its predecessor in speed, capable of generating 2K resolution images in just 1.8 seconds in text-to-image mode. The unified architecture allows efficient multimodal tasks, combining text-to-image generation and editing of existing images without switching tools.
Seedream 4.0 includes editing functions using simple instructions, making it easy to create or modify images with brief phrases. It also offers stylistic versatility, allowing transformation of images into various artistic styles, including watercolor, cyberpunk, and custom styles.
Seedream 4.0 supports complex editing operations such as adding and removing objects, attribute changes, style transformations, and structural adjustments, including face swapping, supporting professional applications.
It is available on ByteDance applications such as Doubao and Jimeng AI, as well as on third-party platforms like ComfyUI, Krea, or Freepik.
